Our STWHEELS  are   a good solution for the problem of  a later and later learning to ride  a bike  without training wheels. Recently the newspaper La Stampa.it published  an article which describes this problem we resolved by our SmartTWHEELS.

From five years to seven years :children learn to ride a bike without training wheels later and later. Protective parents are responsible.

Maurizio Ternavasio  Torino Italy

Children learn to ride  a bike without training wheels later and later  when  they have yet learnt to read , to write, to count. If  twenty years  ago  children learnt to ride at 5 years ,now they learn at seven .Parents, in particular  the mothers ,are apprehensive according what reveals  the social research “Parents with pedals “ by Monopolis Observatory which  monitored 150 couples with children   from  four to eight years  during one year .The hyper-apprehension affects the 70% of the mothers .They fear that their children ride the bike , even if  often the fathers work hard to teach them how to stand balanced without the training wheels. A  not slight effort, above all when the children don’t know what is the balance and each two meters they risk to fall down, hurting hands , knees  and elbows. So while dad tries to guarantee a certain independence to the child , mum is waiting , perhaps because she doesn’t wish to take off from her bike the baby seat she had to take her child all around the city and along the cycle-tracks. On the other hand  bike is considered  useful for the growth of the child .It is considered not only   an amusement , but  a  way to make exercise (34% of the interviews ), the best way to live in the open air (28%) .For the 6% it may be a good way to improve the physical skills. Only for  few parents (5%) riding  a bike may be dangerous .Valerio Leone ,  Ceo of  Dino Bikes , declares :” Parents are too protective and  when children  begin to ride a bike they are not ready to do it”. They could have all the time to learn as the 83% of them receive  as a gift a 2 wheels bike under 5 years. A bike  is chosen  as a gift according  two main criterias:  a nice outlook  (34%)   and the  solidity(31%)”. The best sellers are those produced under license  of successful cartoons like Spider-man and Barbie or those personalized according the colours of the favourite  football team (globally the 70% of the market )”says Mr. Leone. Fathers seem to be fatalist: they think that the right moment is when their children feel to do it. The trend to  take off the training wheels  later and later  is relevant in all the European countries, excluded Poland, where children learn to ride the bike at 4-5 years and Scandinavia. Actually there could be few tricks  useful to guarantee the independence to the children and to let them not to forget what they learnt and to transmit them a trendier and trendier culture because of  the   relevant costs of petrol and pollution caused by car circulation. to choose  the right bike,  of the correct size, to set correctly the paddle  to let the feet touch the  ground, explain how the  brakes work not to insist if the child  doesn’t want, not to take the camera and invite all the relatives to fix the event …. Just wait for the right moment and  ask : “have you got the bike ? Now ride it….”
